my best moment involving money happened right after the NATO unit shot the hookers inside the church, then got a medic for them (the pimp kept shouting "you damaged my goods, you pay", which was pretty cool by itself). When they left finally, the pimp and myself were the only people left in the church.
He turned to me saying: "they do not know they've just missed Yuri Orlov, right?"
I said: "Obviously not".
He then put on a nasty grin and told me: "How much money have you got on you??"

That was one of the most hillarious moments for me, he pimped my wallet true pimp style
Thumbs up, man....

I general, there was too little money this time for any faction that didn't have direct access to "gold" and was supposed to sell something. So little it actually hindered the game play and shifted the balance significantly.

The main reason most of the factions didnt have enough money: SRP got most of the money by doing ingame missions.

Or atleast thats what I was told by our command. Other than that, I had one opportunity to spend my BE dollars and I think they added a nice little flavor to the game. Didnt need all the 200 dollars, tough.

well, 95%o f the ORC missions were done within the first 24 hours, and none of those involved any money as a reward...

Casino managers point of view

I played the casino manager and most of the time I had no customers, and then got robbed 3 times :'( I liked the idea of berget dollars but since the city never became the freezone that was meant to be my buisness went south and I hade to make a deal with some guys that gave me the protection that I needed.

As mentioned before, it was first when nato was driven away from the city that things became calm and the city started to be a meeting point.

The SRP was given 15 gold bars at the game start. We buried them to the ground and we darw a map were the gold were.

Our company commander and the 2nd in command had the maps of hidden gold with them. (Just like the movie "three kings", but the map were hidden BDU pocket not on the place on the movie =) )

We traded 5 gold bars on the second day and bought ourselfs a mortar and a AT4 with the money. The rest stayed hidden untill last day when they were escorted with the mayor to safe location.

Well, ok Im just a simple grunt and dont know the whole story, but atleast we did get some decent money from our gold bars and I was told that other factions were pretty much unable to obtain decent money (and thus unable to obtain weapons). That being said, do you think all the problems with the money was game organizational fault?

I think when the NATO locked the BC down it made all money making very difficult.

Actually too difficult. The bank manager came to SRP base to buy or gold.

Only a small time at Bashir and nothing to spend money on... I should have made a deposit at the Bank and come back next year to collect my intrests!

OT: some of us civilians accually had a ingame discussion about the nato roadblocks since every SRP,Orlov och Milo player were "harrased" by the roadblocks, hell even us civilians were checked and had to show id even when going to the toilets which the a couple of meters outside the roadblock.

The idea from the beginning with the casino was that a lot of money were sopposed the flow trough it ( having to hire security, orginizing texas hold em tournements etc.) but no players came.

I would've spent more time in there. I was up 40BD when NATO renegades attacked and I had to go on the defense and protect Bashir 8)

The bank always had money, but never enough... A lot of people where suposed to sell gold and such to me, but my answer almost always where when berget gives me money...
I felt that my main mission was to get as much money as possible in circulation, but never had enough to make an impact..

While I agree with the ruls of Nato players not being allowed into the casino on realistic grounds, I think it would have been fun to allow them into these 'facilities' in their 'down time'.

I.E. they could change to their civvies, but keep their blue arm bands on, then head to the casino/bar/brothel or whatever, carrying only a concealed pistol.

At their own risk though.
