SRP debrief

Post by Olli » 22 Jul 2008, 17:25

Here's a little briefing how things went in the SRP -team. I hope all other commanders could write their briefings so everyone would know what happened in other teams. If you have questions, just ask the at this topic and someone from the SRP team or GM's will answer it. If I have some handicaps here, please fix 'em.

The SRP team had around 150 players (120 Finns and 30 Swedes) and formed four assault platoons (Hammer, Snake, Fox and Dog). Also we had one recon platoon (Rat platoon). Platoonleaders callsing was 1-0 and the command squad callsing was Tiger. Commander was Tiger 1-0.

Every morning the commander went to the main safe and received the missions for the day. Sometimes GM's called commander and gave new mission from the phone.

The main mission for the entire game was to defend the oil wells and prevent the GCM -team from destroying the oil wells. If an oil well was destroyed, we had six hours to repair them, or they would be destroyed for good.

Wednesday

At first day SRP received mission to defend the oil wells and ambush UN convoys to achieve medical crates. SRP had to obtain two medic crates. Before we had the crates players could be healed only once. Hammer platoon dug in to the oil wells and Snake went to the southern road to prepare ambush. Fox took the northern road. Dog were the reserve platoon and it also guarded the base.

At this point I found the oil wells impossible to defend all four days. I had to buy time for us. So I called the general Condrad and we decided to focus getting the NATO out of the way and after that we could settle our scores. I gave some info about the NATO moves to General and he left the oil wells alone for the moment.

SRP placed and checkpoint to the intersection near the oil wells to stop all traffic on the road leading to oil wells and SRP base (point 1 on map). Many kinds of groups visited the checkpoint to change intel and negotiate with the SRP forces. Also the CIA guys visited there (at this point we didn’t know who they were). First truck acted aggressively and it was shot to pieces but the second one took it easier and we let it through the checkpoint to drive to the crashed helicopter (point 3 on map) near the GCM base (At this point I called the General and warned him about the incoming forces). Around midnight I was informed about incoming convoy at the southern road (point 2 on map). Quickly we took around 30 men and placed an ambush to the road. Convoy came and it was shot to pieces. SRP team didn’t suffer any casualties. With just 15 nato guys against 30 from SRP, the outcome was quite obvious. Around 0230 GCM forces attacked the oil wells, but SRP defended bravely and after fierce fighting, approximately half of the assaulters were shot and rest of them fled from the oil wells by cars.

Thursday

In morning we received missions to find cargo crates from south, find missing pilot from north, meet a diplomat at the checkpoint and ambush big NATO convoy at the southern road. Also intel told that UN base had several medical crates. Rat platoon (minus Rat 3) went to find the crates to south, Dog took the job for the pilot and Snake went to prepare the ambush. Fox defended the oil wells and set up an observation post to the radar hill (point 4 on map 2) to monitor UN base. Hammer was sent to attack the UN base with Rat 3 squad (wich had scouted the UN base night before). Their mission was to obtain medical crates from the UN base.

Dog platoon found the pilot of the crashed helicopter from north an escorted her to the base. At the base she was questioned and her wounds were treated. The map she had in her posession pointed out that she was part of the NATO force. After she had said all she had to say GM’s gave new mission to escort her to the border (main safe), but we decided that General might be interested of bying her. SRP sold the woman to General by price of one medical crate. Unfortunatedly general was very busy and the exchange was done late in the evening. Pilot (Emma) had to wait six hours until she was given to GCM forces (we said to her that we would escort her to the border… sorry. Better luck next time).

The checkpoint (point 1 on map 1) had heavy traffic through the day. CIA guys game again and they went to the oil wells. After that, a diplomat came and commander had a chat with him. He wanted General and SRP to have peace and focus only to NATO forces. SRP guys played along, but at the same time helped NATO against the GCM forces. We had a plan of pushing NATO and GCM against each other and profit as much as possible from them. NATO paid 15 000$ when we let them visit the radar hill. Couple of SRP fighters happened to hear from NATO guys, that they were about to attack GCM from north. Tiger 1-0 called the general about the attack and general kept his forces out of the oil wells. Nato gave two medical crates as a reward when SRP let them attack the helisite trough oil wells. (SRP received money from oil profits every morning as long as the oil wells were in our control).

Hammer platoon and Rat 3 attacked the UN base around 1300 and were supported by mortar fire (at the same time couple of lost civilian children asked us to take them to their mommy at UN base. “Sorry your mom has been blown to pieces… better luck next time). The attack did not succeed and Hammer platoon had to retreat from the UN base. Around 1400 Snake platoon returned to the base. Snake platoon leader and Tiger-3 prepared the sandbox where the entire attack was demostrated to every SRP fighter. The convoy was supposed to leave from NATO base at 2200. Every SRP fighters were on their positions on the ambush site at 2130. Dog platoon was at the north side of the road with the commander and Snake platoon command squad. Rat platoon set up observation posts approximately 300 meters from the ambush site to both directions to monitor the road ahead (Points A and B on map 2). Fox 1 with snipers and machinegunners were put up hill north where they had perfect positions to support attacking platoons. Rest of the platoons were set south side of the road. Dog was supposed to fire first and get the enemy’s attention. After that, rest of the platoons would attack enemies backs from south.

Finally the Rat 3 reported that convoy was on the move. Commander ordered GM’s to fire the bombs a little bit too late. The ignition was very slow and half of the convoy slipped trough before the bombs went off. Quickly the ambushed vehicles were shot to pieces and first vehicles that had got through, stopped 150 meters away wondering what to do. Commander ordered platoon to attack rest of the cars by the road using both flanks. Enemy fought hard, but SRP managed to destroy all ambushed cars and NATO players. Some cars tried to flee the ambush by driving towards the UN base. They were taken out by Rat 2, which had an secondary ambush 300 meters from the original ambush site (Point B on map 2). After the road was cleared, SRP regrouped and headed back to base.

Before off-game time, commander gave order to recon patrol to find out if there were the any tanks at the UN base. Plain recon changed to force recon and UN camp was overrun by the SRP forces.

Friday

In the morning Tiger 1-0 received orders to hold the oil wells and the radar hill (Point 4 on map 3). Enemy would try to destroy the oil wells for good and get their troops up to the hill and build a missile there. NATO would be there too. They would have their own missions, but they would help SRP by fighting GCM troops also. Hammer and Dog troops were sent to oil wells and checkpoint. Rat was sent to do some recon. Fox sent a team to meet NATO forces and put the rest of the platoon up to the radar hill. Snake was acting as reserve platoon in the base.

Fighting began suddenly. UN forces managed to sneak to our base and attacked it from east. At the same time NATO troops approached from the southern path (India Coy?). CO went with the NATO platoon leader(?) to settle things with attacking UN forces. UN forces stormed through the SRP base and SRP fighter began to join the battle from north and south, trying to flank the attackers to the base. NATO guys managed to calm things down and half of the attackers were shot and an other half gathered to the south side of the base. Apparently UN wanted to get something back from the SRP cause our attack at their base last night. Apparently UN had changed their agenda from peacekeeping to peacemaking.

UN forces left the area and NATO troops wanted to enter the radar hill to find some missile parts. SRP didn’t allow all of them to enter there. One NATO squad was escorted to the hill and rest of them waited near the SRP base. NATO squad didn’t find missile parts from the hill and rest of the NATO troop were sent to guard the north side of the hill with SRP Hammer platoon against the GCM –forces. (NATO commander paid SRP five antidotes and one AT-gun for entering the hill.) More NATO guys entered the intersection near the oil wells and SRP CO and XO had a chat with their Coy leader (Ian??). At the same time GCM recon patrol approached the intersection from the northern road. GCM troops informed the SRP that they only want to enter the radar hill. Tiger 3 and 4 decided to ambush the troops in the intersection. Tiger 4 took 1000 dollars from the GMC patrol leader and escorted them to the intersection (at that point NATO troops were at the oil wells out of sight). When the recon patrol made it to the intersection Tiger 3 yelled “FIRE” and the GCM recon team was history.

Soon after, the CIA guys drove towards the intersection and simultaneously GCM troops hiding alongside the road opened fire towards them and the SRP fighters guarding the crossroads. CIA patrol was caught in crossfire and was eliminated on the road alongside with few SRP fighters who tried to support and heal them. NATO troops and SRP Snake platoon fought against GMC –troops who approached the oil wells from the west (near the heli crash site). More mercs attacked the intersection from the north and Dog and Hammer platoon had a tough fight with them at the intersection and the north side of the hill.

After the enemy had been destroyed from the intersection and north side of the hill, NATO commander (Brujo) and around 50 men drove to the intersection and Tiger 1-0 and Tiger 2 had a chat with him. NATO accomplished their mission at the intersection and same time had it under guard. Snake platoon kept fighting with the GCM forces at the oil wells. Around 1800 Snake had fought several hours at the oil wells. All NATO troops left the area and approximately 100 mercs pushed towards the oil wells. Snake and the rest of the SRP troops had to retreat from the oil wells and form up a new defence line to the intersection. More than half of the SRP fighters were at the base reloading or respawning. Hammer kept the north side of the hill and Fox was guarding the rest of the radar hill. At this point enemy approached the base from the west and battle moved from the oil wells to SRP base’s vicinity.

Suddenly couple mercenary vehicles and many GCM fighters drove straight to SRP base. They came from the south path but this path was strictly forbidden by the land owner (point 5 on map 3). The owner gave a really angry call to the GM:s, cause the Merc cars drove through those forbidden roads. Every available fighter was sent to clear the base of enemies and after fierce fire fight enemy was destroyed and GM:s settled the problems concerning the forbidden path.

At this point enemy had destroyed the oil wells and most of the troops were at the base. Tiger 1-0 give orders to retake the oil wells and fix them before it was too late. At least Hammer, Snake and Dog platoon went to take the oil wells back. The enemy had dug in really deep to the oil wells. SRP troops had to fight more than one hour to take the oil wells back. Some guys from hammer platoon named battle of oil wells “the mother of all fights”. Apparently Russian troops gave a hell of a fight in the southern oil well. Those guys were really badass airsofters. Good for you guys!

After the oil wells were back at the hands of SRP, the engineer started to fix them. Enemy tried many times to overrun the oil wells, but Snake, Hammer and Dog platoon pushed them back every time. During the fighting our positions were also visited by UN and NATO patrol. Also the CIA returned to the crossroads and took defensive positions and held the perimeter for couple of hours firing fiercely at the few mercenaries hiding in the woods. The oil wells were repaired and the enemy still pushed onwards. Rat platoon had couple of squads near the GMC base and it radioed CO about the enemy movements. Our positions held because of the truly heroic defenders and intel which Rat gave from their observation posts. Rat squads also attacked the enemies backs when they pushed to the oil wells.

At 0200 SRP forces had fought with the enemy for more than 10 hours straight. Enemy attacked again the SRP base and all troops were sent to clear them out. One squad stayed and guarded checkpoint at the intersection. In the same time a NATO convoy suddenly appeared and drove straight through the checkpoint which only had couple of SRP fighters guarding it. NATO rushed up to the radar hill (point 4 on map 3) with their trucks and about dozen of fighters were hastily deployed to intercept them. The attack had little effect on the NATO troops and new defensive positions were taken at the checkpoint to stop the NATO trucks when they would return. After a while the trucks moved down from the radar hill and stopped at the checkpoint. Few NATO fighters were shot in the firefight but then suddenly some GCM troops pushed forwards from the oil wells direction and hit the SRP defenders in the back. NATO convoy quickly drove away as the mercs attacked the intersection and took it from the SRP. At this point general Condrad called Tiger 1-0 and acted as nothing had happened. He claimed that those merc troops which had attacked the whole day to SRP positions were rogue mercenaries and he hadn’t given orders to destroy the oil wells. Condrad asked SRP to have deal with the GCM. He wanted to have the missile guidance chip from UN(?) forces and asked SRP to help him with that. Tiger 1-0 decided with Condrad that SRP would help GMC in saturday to receive the chip if the GCM troops would leave the oil wells alone. Condrad promised to pull his men out from the oil wells and Tiger 1-0 would have a meeting with him in saturday morning. This deal was only made to buy time to SRP. We had no intention to give the guidance chip to Condard.

Just before 0300 Tiger 1-0 talked with some Snake platoon guys:

- Good job guys! Tomorrow we have to find the missile which GCM is trying to build to the radar hill.

- Well sir, I have the warhead of the missile right here in my ruck…

- WTF!! Where did you find this?

- It was laying in the woods and I picked it up…

- You have the warhead which every force of the entire game had tried to get to their hands on and it is under your sleeping bag?

- That’s right sir!

Saturday

At morning CO received orders to climb up to the radar hill (point 4 on map 4) and prevent anyone from firing the missile. Also we had a chance to find the missile and build it up by our selves. First thing in the morning Snake platoon were sent to pick up the rest of the missile as they had also spotted it at night. UN would be there trying to solve things peacefully. Rat was at the oil wells and the intersection all morning until 1000 and after that, a recon team was sent around the oil wells to give info to command about enemy movements and to do small strikes to the GMC forces backs.
Snake brought the missile parts to the base and they were dug underground at the base area. Idea was to shoot all attacking groups and after that, bring the missile up to the hill.

UN forces occupied the intersection and SRP climbed up to the hill and took positions there. NATO commander called Tiger 1-0 and told that they would attack to merc base at the moment when mercs were attacking the radar hill. After the attack NATO would drive to the oil wells and intersection. SRP plan was to hold the hill against the mercs to that point when NATO would arrive to the intersection. After that, NATO could try to attack the hill, but they would have mercs coming to their backs from crashed heli site. Neither team could give a full force to attack the hill because they would have to fight with each other at the same time. After things would settle, SRP could build the missile and do what ever they want with it.

UN tried to stop the GCM forces from attacking the hill but things went really hot and they had to retreat the intersection before mercs would have shot all of them. UN joined the defensive line at the hill. Also the CIA guys entered the hill and joined to defence. Enemy started to blast with mortars into the hill and SRP guys had to take cover every now and then from incoming mortar rounds. At this point CIA guys indentified them selves to Tiger 1-0 and told that they have a mission to prevent the missile from being launched. They said that they have the guidance chip and they could sell it to SRP by 300 000 dollars. They would sell it to us, if we promise to destroy it when we have it. (At this point none of the other team knew that SRP had the missile dug underground). Tiger 1-0 promised to destroy the chip after the mercs had been stopped. Couple of CIA guys went to acquire the chip and rest of them stayed at the defences.

Mercs started to attack the hill from the north and west . The first wave was stopped, but after a couple of hours of firefight (around1400) SRP had to create a new defence line to the north side of the radar hill. GCM made it trough about 100 meters to the hill from the north (point 6 on map 4), but they were stopped by the new defence line. Merc troops also tried to sneak from the southeast to the radar, but they were shot to pieces. After the second wave was stopped, NATO troops entered the intersection and took positions there. This meant that respawning GCM troops had to fight the NATO first and after that climb up to the hill to fight with SRP. Mercs couldn’t get any more troops to support the attack and rest of the attackers in the hill were flanked and destroyed and the original line was built up again.

At this point Tiger 4 had bought the missile guidance chip from the CIA guys. Hammer squad dug the missile up and brought it to the radar (This was a request of a GM:s to bring the missile up. It was done “off-game” cause NATO guys were in our base literally sitting on top of the missile parts. We wouldn’t have ever got the missile up from there as long as the NATO was at our base. Missile was assembled and the chip was attached to it. Tiger 1-0 sent a video to NATO CO that all NATO forces had to leave the country or SRP would fire the missile to America. NATO started to attack the hill by force (point 7 on map 4) but suddenly the missile was lauched. Tiger 1-0 didn’t give orders to fire the missile, but apparently there was some misunderstanding about that. Maybe he could have said to the missile team something like this:

- Ok guys. Now the missile is armed, we can lauch it when ever we want.
- Roger that sir, lauching the missile!
- NO NO NOT YET!!…. Kaboom!

And there it went… and the game ended

Image

I had an idea to give NATO about 20 minutes time to get to the missile. We would have a hell of a fight there. But the missile took off too early and the game ended just a little bit too early, when the fight was only getting better.

If you have something to correct here, please do so. We story is not very accurate. I tried to give the biggest missions and actions which SRP did in the game. If you have something to add please do so.

I'd like to add that Dog rocked :D voff voff!

Also, do you(SRP players) think that the lines that each respective commander wore on their armbands made any difference? Or could we just have skipped the lines?

Great summary Olli. I only have one point of contention!
Olli wrote: Enemy fought hard, but SRP managed to destroy all ambushed cars and NATO players. Some cars tried to flee the ambush by driving towards the UN base. They were taken out by Rat 2, which had an secondary ambush 300 meters from the original ambush site (Point B on map 2). After the road was cleared, SRP regrouped and headed back to base.
The truck with the package made it through the second ambush and the package was successfully delivered to the UN base. (I am fairly certain it happened this way, as I was driving the truck).

The just-spawned NATO Coy cmdr you gave a sitrep in the SRP camp on Friday was me. I had lost most of my coy on the way up (truthfully, the whole coy got hammered on the northern road, but I couldnt get the message out to everyone that we had made a deal so we could use your spawn), which left me with remnants of a platoon to help India 1 and 2 with their task. We rushed up the hill to help India 2.

As we got up, they were takin fire from an enemy sniper, but we were of little use up there. After a short rest on the top (amazing scenery, btw), India 1 called us on the radio, asking for reinforcements at the base. Well, down we went, and did what little we could to help out. We set up a perimiter at the crossroads and provided MG support down the road to the oilwells, while India 1 kept hammering the flanks of the enemy.

When Brujo and the rest of NATO arrived, I somehow lost everyone from Bravo, except for 2 of my Plt Cmdr's and one grunt while I was debriefing with the HQ on site. Feeling that we were of little use, had no food or water with us and had been on foot for god knows how long (someone else probably does aswell, I just cant remember when we set out and what the time was. and mucho gracias to the lads in Oscar for the bread, really gave us that extra boost), we hauled ass back to Main SZ to try and get a ride up to NATO HQ.

All in all, I think we did what we could, and we did keep the GCM's attention to the North for a while for you guys. Massive kudos to Bravo Coy for the rapid sprint from Main SZ to SRP when we realised what the time was, was a real joy to play with you guys! :D

Excellent debrief.

I hope we'll also read the GCM/NATO/UN part of the story!

My 2 cents:

I think the primary ambush site on the NATO convoy (good job, BTW) was closer to lake Örsjön. When we left the trucks and took up defensive positions on south side of the road, the lake was very close (~100m).

Yes, the ambush and the fighting happened near Örsjön. In the map is marked where the main of SRP troops were placed and the ambush was supposed to happen (if the crackers would have gone off in the right time). Well, these things happen, still we managed to pound the NATO convoy good all though you guys slipped trough.

Olli perhaps you should mention that the Mercs did not know about the fact it was forbidden to use that road. I think BE did not expect anyone to be stupid enough to drive that "road" up there so they did not bother to inform us (us = mercs). Alas, we were stupid enough, so we tried and went through the base and got killed few meters afterwards. Anyway, we would not drive through there had we known it was forbidden.

Yes, it was an problem between gamemasters and you guys. We didn't know either that the road was not to be used with vehicles until gamemasters informed us about that.

It totally ok bout the forbidden road. We were informed about it and of course we assumed that you guys would know it too. Because of this there were no guards on that road and you could drive it straith trough. Trust me when I tell you that I was really surpraised to see merc cars appeared on our base in middle of nowhere :D

Well, the road was marked off-limits on the aerialphoto.

However i think it should have been marked with signs on the road.
Maybe a lesson for next year, to clearly mark off-limit areas..

Anyway, India thx for the help! You guys healed me at least twice!

I have only one regret, we had so much going on i didnt have time to get to know even a fraction of the players.

Being a part of SRP rocked hard.
Im so proud of my dogs! GG and way to keep in line!
Commanding was totally easy and a blast.

Chain of command and comms in SRP was outstanding.

Yep things happened something like this... just that we did not attacked you in an act of revenge!

The UN force was somehow left aside from the game so we decide to get some action...

When you attacked our base everyone was mostly off-game since there was nothing left to do besides a stupid color alert system... we were eating and chating basically... and yes, plots were being made to take some action on Friday...

On the Friday morning two squads, about 20/25 man, took off heading your base, with the sole purpose to dry our batteries :P...

Like the crew named it, "Deserter Attack" was the only action that we had so far... and I was told by one of the crew members that it was a nice thing :D!

The attack got filmed, in the most part I think... still waiting for the video...

As far as it concerns me, you guys were the funniest faction to play with, even when you took as hostages!

Hope we all meet again next year!

Losolos, could you be more specific about this? The missile was assembled by SRP at the hill just before game ended. Before that the missile was in 3 pieces and never assembled before. Are you certain that you are talking about the same one?

we leave it at specksta when SRP starts to attack ;)

Losolos, could you be more specific about this? The missile was assembled by SRP at the hill just before game ended. Before that the missile was in 3 pieces and never assembled before. Are you certain that you are talking about the same one?
I do not know about the blowing up, but the missile was first assembled at the GCM base around 2AM friday morning on order from Conrad right after we acquired the misile from our "special source" - Yuri Orlov the weapons smugler. We worked with him for 2 days on different missions to get the missile. So GCM team WTF (us the once coming to your base up the back road) was the first to get the missile and arrange the trade from Orlov to Conrad for a commission of 120.000,- We have some nice videos of what Orlov and we had to go tru to get the missile. You can also see pics of the assembly here:

in the 6th line from top.

Once we assemled the rocket Conrad found out that it was missing a guidance chip, so he gave the missile to the german/swiss team with the black truck (that was shot to "pices" later on). Later on we found out they lost the rocket or whatever and that our 2 day work was flushed down the toilet, we were kinda pissed by that...

If they blew up the rocket, they should clear that out, cos it would kinda mess up the "storyline", but it will not change that everyone had fun with the shit happenning around the missile from start to end... it dont matter much then, in my clear view SRP was the best army on the field at B6 anyway, so a clear "win" goes there anyway.
