At Berget 7 we had great maps of the area. These should still be around as B9 will be at the same location. These maps used the UTM-grids (or was it MGRS? What's the difference again?) your GPS will show you. In this way, the GPS will complement the map and compass, not replace them. The maps were ...

Main problem is sweden maps are supplied only on DVD because it's size - therefore they are not available for international shipping from buy.garmin.com (only US/Canada shipping from there) ... So I'm checking with the Garmin distributor in Israel if he can get the TOPO Sweden maps... Atlho i wouldn...

Eagledriver, I was in fact looking mainly at the Garmin BirdsEye system and it's complementing GPS's and wanted to see if someone knows of a better option. I myself own a Garmin GPS, however it's the lower end - coordinates only type. Redmenace_tv, I am trailing using maps but I wanted some more opt...

sorry about the "attitude" but I believe I've said in my second post that I'm looking for a proper GPS device that is dedicated to navigation and not another feature in a smartphone. Smarthphone GPS's are for fun or for use with road maps and not for use for long navs where you'd want 2m accuracy an...

Last year we had an incident in-game where one of the missile vehicles passed one checkpoint sporting an enemy flag AND an orange rag and then shot the next checkpoint. I don't know what BE did with the incident but we (at the second checkpoint) were very upset - especially since the first checkpoin...

If I could slap you over the net - I would..... :P No - I'm talking about proper hiking GPS's and not toys that take forever to acquire GPS lock and battery holds for only 4 hours working nonstop.... for that price (400$ and north) on eBay I can purchase a proper Garmin Oregon 450. My question is if...

After 2 bergets` and numerous all-weather tryouts for my sleeping bag - i do recommend the RECON 4 (-10c) sleeping bag. I used it both for B7 when it was hot and B8 when it was quite cold at night and it did the job great. At b7 i slept in my undies and t-shirt and in B8 i had to put socks and a war...

Another thing to consider - Buy goretex lined shoes! I myself bought Belleville 690 USAF shoes - lined with goretex and didn't receive even one drop of water into my shoes (*and we got to walk in knee deep swamps...) if you want to go further - goretex trousers tucked snuggly into goretex shoes offe...

We had a HUGE overweight problem when traveling from Israel: some of our packs wheighed in excess of 30 kgs and most of us brought only 1 piece of hardware. The way I see it - you need a spare weapon for every 2 or even 3 people coming - so this way you can actualy spread the weight between the team...

Bear in mind, when preparing clothing, the different situations you encounter. We had lots of different temperatures in B7: * in base during day - friggin hot inside the tents and in direct sun, in shade the condition was better. * at night - in the thick of the woods - it was hot because of high hu...
