Re: Game area?

What guys said. Long walks to base do nothing to enhance the game, they just waste time and tire people out. We walked a lot and I think that a large majority of kilometers came simply from slogging the road between civ village and Raven base. Not exactly fun.

Re: The rain, how did you survive it?

I am not sure if I would have wanted a stove in the tent I slept in. Nights were quite warm so heated tents would have been saunas. As long as tents do not leak or collapse (our team-provided ones did not) I can live with pulling on wet BDUs in the morning as long as I can sleep in relative dryness....

Re: Mosquitoes & Knott

Much less of a problem than I expected. They respected repellent quite well. My most bitten areas are around my wrist where I did not want to apply DEET next to my GPS. The small f-kers (knots?) were worse but they stayed also away with some repellent.

Re: gear...

Not sure what you mean by a "set", but you can get a pair of Bridgedale socks for about 20 euros and they are amazing. Best socks I've ever worn in my life. Basic technical socks seriously suck compared to them. Merino Wool FTW, very comfortable, doesnt smell half as bad and keeps feet warmer if we...

Re: Frequency range on BE radios

(might have written this someplace else already...) Hint for Puxings, or for any other more advanced radios: you should find adjustable squelch somewhere in the settings. This is what controls the signal strength needed for the radio to actually start receiving. Crank it up high. I think I used some...

Re: Use of CB-radio during Berget 2013

For what it is worth, seriously consider just using cell phones for long-range comms. Reliable and cheap with pre-paids. On the other hand I am curious about how have CB radios traditionally worked in Härnosand hilly terrain? Anyone with experience? Is it of any help if one uses a dipole or a quarte...

The rules don´t say anything about alcohol or other intoxicants. So in other words you can use any intoxicant you like during Berget as long as you don´t break swedish law. Not in the Rules section, but in the Info section: We have an absolute zero tolerance policy for any form of alcohol or drugs ...

Very nice pics, thanks! Good to have someone taking action pics with a long zoom lens, much better than hasty snapshots taken by players.

Bulgarian (?) POL guy in Thursday firefight over Crossroads. We had contact in the afternoon a bit east of Crossroads, shooting down on POL on the road until we got basically surrounded. There was a POL guy who sneaked super-smoothly westwards closer to the cliff edge where we had our last stand, to...

"Everything went better than expected" :) I was partly prepared for a base in the middle of nowhere with only water supplies. So having NAF base next to us, with toilets regularly hosed down with chlorine and oftentimes having TP, was a surprise, as was having hand soap available. (People please: if...

I saw you guys coming to the abandoned village during our attack on Friday and opened fire. I knew that there were covert operatives in the area but your location did not match our intel, plus you were carrying guns so our standing orders were to shoot on sight. Plus, had you been POL-friendly, you ...

What did it look like, exactly? We had a standing order to blow them up if we saw one, but we had no idea whether it was a flag+OD box on the ground, or a full-blown tent with red crosses and so on.

RRP Taksi, crapgame: we had an experienced guy in the front lines shouting out for flanking action as soon as he saw you guys advancing to the higher ground towards the rocks west to the power line. I was in our flanking/reserve unit (1 squad by the way), basically just ran like hell to our right, w...

We met not only numerous (*) but some skilled Poldavian teams who started flanking us right away at the first contact. This resulted in very challenging fights with 360 degree firing sectors. Poldavian forces who we met at the power lines on Wed night reacted very fast. Even though we shot a vast nu...
