If the listening/jamming would be allowed then i think usage of cellphones should also be alowed beacuse i consider radiolistening as cheating in airsoft.

but if BE would make it an offical rule to listen on the radios im shure to start a code system in speaking so noone will get my intel anyway.

my vote: Denied

Spofing, or jamming should NOT be allowed at all. Real military has a large nr of trained comms guys to run their systems, a 3 day Airsoft game should not require this type of system, and berget Events does not have freq for everyone to have radio freq jumping plan. I am not so against listning, but have no problem with berget also making that against the rules.

Maybe answer to this could be that:
Field troop PMR radios could be listenend, but jamming should be denied.
Then commander level radios (LA?) should be considered as "better encrypted" so it couldn't be listened or jammed either.
So, if somebody on field talks about secret stuff in radio, he/she should be aware that there might be somebody listening. Little bit paranoia, eh? :P

My vote was 'accept'. If BE makes a rule about this, no matter if it would be denied or accepted, I will obey the rule and not going to whine about it.
Thats what I call sportsmanship, so I'll just go with it

Well that should teach people not to bring those 5w Puxing radios :)
If anything, it would give people a reason to reduce the power of their radios to just as much as they need for the message to get through to its intended recipient.

I'm really really against this in airsoft, though.
It's just wrong, IMHO.

If you have ever been to Berget at Härnösand before, you should know how difficult radio communication is in that terrain, with or without repeater stations.
If you start jamming there, you are making a mess for everyone.
Do you want that ,or do you want to play airsoft ?

Jamming should to my mind not be allowed. PMR frequencies are limited enough already that jamming would make radios mostly useless,

everybody talks about jamming but the question was about listening in on enemy radio's :?

jamming sucks, listening is ok
it's not cheating to get enemy intel from listening on radio's
anyway, i've made my point on the first page :P

Ober-Lix gave us a good point: How far are we going to play Airsoft?

-Shall we Lissen to others radioes?
-Jamm them?
-Pay flightcompanies to fly over the area, taking pictures of movement/locations?

I say yes! It is SO cool, and it is SO fun! For ME!!! If i afford it!! :-P

In the end, we have nothing to do than read and follow the rules from BE.
SPORTSMANSHIP!?! WTF!!! There will aLWAYS be people that are cheating, and let us deal with them in a good way!? Who cut the damn fence at PSYOPS-base last year!!!
It was worth 2-3 BAVS-System!!!

Well, looking at the poll, it sure does seem to be that DENIED is the word.

... I would not accept radio listening unless there is clearly most of people accepting that, like at least 70%.
Never the less, I don't see any reason why this would make my b9 any worse :)

I'm against listening. The person doing it, will have nothing of the wonderful scenery, will not shoot at interesting multinational friends, see props that BE make and will burden the already stressed enough CO with 90% rubbish information.
As a consequence, players will be issued with crappy missions, hunting individuals instead of attending epic battles where coordination and teamwork make up for what Berget really is.

Brujo, I agree with your arguments if we are talking about random people trying to listen in. They should have their orders what to do, and act according to those.

If however, command wants to assign people to listen in and try to decipher overall enemy activity from their radio chatter, I do not see the problem. It also encourages people to use proper comms discipline and not give away needless intel on their radio.

Buffel, this is Berget. Most of the players are not trained in propper comm procedures. You are confusing Berget with a hardcore milsim event... create that kind of experience within your unit but do not expect everyone or every unit to be familiar with procedures and password challenging on radio.

Furthermore, the GM's are actually working on getting enemies together by assigning missions to CO's. So if you play by the missions, you are bound to see some action. Why fix that with own assumptions?

Brujo, you obviously win in the Berget experience department. So I'll bow out of the discussion here.

But to answer the question on why bother: because it may add an element to the game rather than detract. And because I don't mind if people who make the extra effort to get it right, actually have an advantage as a result. Whether it works or not for Berget, I can't say.

My vote goes to;

Listening and not spamming

and when i say listening i mean with a proper scanner that scans the band for a signal to listen to, not a ordinary UHF radio that u just turn a knob and go trough presetchannel´s. I would love the opportunity to take a truck loaded with scanning equipment and go out hunting for intel that ppl are screaming out on the channels and relaying that intel coded to HQ!
