This is a very good question.

I've heart about the plans of our government just a few days ago and thought WTH?

But to explain this a little bit: At the beginning the government wanted to set up a (even) more gunlaw, but thanks to our loved gun lobby they have changed there mind. Now they have searched for a sacrificial lamb and finaly they found the paintball players.

But we will fight against this (of cause with legal instruments).

I think it is also because of the next electionin fall 2009. So I hope it is just campaign behavior and nothing serious.

Nothing has been decided yet. It has been only a motion put foreward to the government. So far it has been nothing but hot air that some polititians, specially the green and the socialist parties, with the view to the election in summer.

:shock: Man, this is a total shock for me because I've been playing MilSim paintball in Germany since 2001! Talk about bumming out a fellow's weekend. :twisted:

I sure hope you're right Ober=Lix because this is going to solve absolutely nothing and will just piss a lot of people off. Luckily for me, when I am back home in Germany, I can just go over the border to France and play but the only problem with that would be getting there...DOH! :x

Also, if the lawmakers are willing to throw the book at all the paintballers, then how much longer will the airsoft community survive afterwards? :?

I think I'm going to invite some Dutch politicians to an airsoft game and show them in person that airsoft is absolutely NOT a violence idolising sport or game... It's a game where you can make friends. Yes, we shoot eachother, but grab a drink together afterwards.

These kind of thinking by any person.... I really don't understand this... And worst thing is... most of them have this thought, without really knowing what it is all about... :evil: :D

If they believe that airsoft/paintball is too violent they will probably ban games where you shoot with laser guns on each other too. :evil:

Anyway, airsoft is a way too have fun and should be. I think that everyone that plays airsoft/paintball has so much of a common sense that they will not go into a school and shoot everyone up.

I am with you all the way in this manner my german brothers in arms and hope this proposal is not going to get approved. Otherwise you are allways welcome to shoot plastic with us up here :D

I just got "good" news... Just red an article about a European court case back in 2004. It was a legal matter agains a lasergame operator. The main charge was that this game simulates death and killing besides they thought it would be dishonoring humans.

The state lost the case :D
Today the same charges appear from the German government and again they will face the same counter measures and regulations and lose again.

I was watching the film "Sniper" last night... fighting and killing is being idolised in almost any action movie... it seems normal these days...

As I'm working in the computer games industry, I can tell you Germany also has in place some "different" restrictions than most on what games can be sold there and in what conditions.

On-screen violence is a major concern.

Our German friends have started a petition for their struggle against their governments announcement.

http://www.spotspy.net/

Here's how it works:
1 On the right hand side of the page you can find a spot with: "Gemeinsam gegen das geplante Verbot von Paintball und Laserdome" - put all data requested here:

Vor und Nachname= Fist and last name
email....
Anschrift=Adress
Ort= Place (where you live)
Bundesland/Land= Country

After that just click on "Absenden" (=send)

No email verification... after "Absenden" your vote is counted in!

Thanks guys!!
