Future suggestion for Armbands

Post by EagleDriver » 10 Jun 2011, 16:14

For B9, I will be wearing the ACU style uniform with velcro on the upper sleeve. I made up my armband and decided to put some velcro under it so it would help stay up by attaching to the velcro on the uniform sleeve. Then I thought that it would be cheaper and easier to make a blue patch to cover just the velcro on the sleeve. So I made a mock up to test and it measures 12cm x 10cm. Here is the example:

Image

It is securely attached with the velcro and I could make 3 or 4 of them with the amount of materials that I make 1 armband out of. You could even add another team-colored patch for the pocket flap.

I fully understand that it is probably too late to consider this for B9 as the event staff are most likely very busy with game preparation. So I would like to see if Berget Events would consider this as an alternative to the wrap around armband for future Berget games (B10?)

Second to Os - an armband that does not surround an arm impairs a friend or foe identification. But it's a good idea to attach a square inch of hook velcro to the inner side of the regular armband - this will prevent it from rolling or sliding down the sleeve even it is loose.
A riflescope reticle is also someone's point of view

I thought that we wear different colored uniforms for team recognition? But I am also used to more strict MILSIM games where we do not wear armbands. Some times it is hard to tell who is on what team at night or in a dark area but that is a part of MILSIM. (I know Berget is not a straignt MILSIM game.)

I do agree with you and we mostly play the same way, but

You will have to bring/create your own armband. When constructing your own armband, it must be atleast 11 cm (4,3 inch) wide and have your induvidual teamnumber visable in black. Players without correct armband´s wont be allowed into the game-area.

Do not create your armband until you have recived your induvidual "Armband-id". The armband-id is not the same as your ticket-id ! You will recive it when you book your ticket, if buying a second hand ticket please ask Berget-events or the seller for correct armband-id.
Dosent state it should go around the arm. but be clearly visible.
i did played with an armband that had 12x15cm square patch style. No one said anything to me at the check in about that. using the velcro made it stay straight and didnt couse any problems as ordinary style did.

if it isnt okey you can add a bit fabric around and still use the velcro.

Here's how I did mine. I did the same thing last year too, and it works swell.

Image
Top is the reverse side. The velcro in the middle is there to secure it to my jacket so it doesn't bunch up or slide down.
It closes with velcro too.
The bottom armband has the front side facing the camera. Our team patch is attached, as the armband will cover up the velcro panel where it's usually worn.

And for the others who don't have velcro like your example? There are lots of old bdu without velcro in the sleeves.

Then you could attach it like we used to do in the old days in the Military using a safety pin. We used to use them to keep Brassards up on our shoulder and before I thought of using velcro--I was going to use a safety pin to keep my armband up.

You could also just add some velcro pile on your BDU shoulder - it would still be less expensive and easier than making an armband.

Ok. it's one way to see the things... but for example:

Image

Blue Velcro 11cm each... 1.5€!!! I prefere to use this one and not using a safety pin ou adpat my old BDU.

Ok, if BE say so in the rules, i'll find a solution... but for now, all this years playing Berget games, it work very well.
