Zanzian forces marched in to the NAF base in ceremonial style where both CO's exchanged salutes and handshakes.

I believe that the ceremony then allowed both forces to share re-spawn points.

It was like a seal of a military alliance I guess.

I personally ducked out of it by providing a security detail consisting of Rangers to provide security to the ceremony, in case you bad boys came along to spoil the day :D

Exactly so, but in addition to spawnpoints, we were also able to share arty and transport points.

Without this "alliance", Saturday's battle would've been very different (read: impossible to win for us).

This is what you missed. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HOUtLjPFov8

I hope someone puts up a video showing the full march and not only the saluting. I think it was fun, although I was abit tired from last night's mission. :) Heard that some NAF players were pretty impressed.

I had fun this year, but sadly I can't say that it came from the cooperation between Berget Events and NAF C&C, because frankly adequate cooperation didn't seem to exist.

Thankfully me and my guys are prepared for such events and we go out on patrols on our own accord and find the fun battles on our own.

Some important notes though:

BE seriously needs to have personel/crew posted at EVERY base at ALL times. We're a swedish team and we know about allemansrätten and the like and we witnessed some serious transgressions most likely made by foreigners in the NAF base camp.

Not to mention the insane amount of littering going on (when we broke camp during the last day you could barely see a trace of our presence aside from where we kept our campfire, but our neighbours who apparently slept in some of the BE provided army tents pretty much ditched all heir trash outside and just fled the area)

Oh, and some people even stole tree logs to build defenses with (logs we assumed belonged to the landowner and was waiting for pick-up by a sawmill truck).

Last year we also saw people cutting down trees to build defenses with (despite the fact that it is in violation of the law)

But there was never anyone from BE Crew around to tell about it.

It's kind of difficult to march up to another airsoft player and tell them to shape up and respect the law when you're just another player with no real authority over anyone.

Especially when half of them try to play dumb and go: "Sorry, me-ah speak no much english."

It's also kind of naive of BE Crew to just expect that hundreds of foreigners who probably only visit Sweden for Berget to actually care about these laws. I mean really, it's not exactly something that the Swedish authorities are going to chase people across national borders for, and the culprits know this so why should they care unless the imminent threat of being evicted off grounds and kicked out of the game is present?

It will however hurt the landowners and definitiely hurt the reputation of airsofters here in Sweden. I for one don't feel like having my reputation tarnished because of what some airsoft tourists do once a year, when me and the people in my team go to great lenghts in respecting the law and non-airsofter bystanders.

So for future games: Make damn sure a camp marshal/sheriff/whatever from BE Crew is present in every camp at ALL times. And give them the authority to kick people out of the game if they get reports that certain players disrespect swedish law.

And in order to facilitate this: do make a habit of keeping records of which players sleep in which tents/raise their own tents rather than just letting people bunk wherever they like with no control over where they make camp.

People tend to visit these games in teams after all, and if you make sure that every player has to report in where they bunk or where they/their team decides to raise their tent it will make things a lot easier to find eventual offenders and make it very easy for people to report which people are doing what if necessary.

P.S

I know it seems that im ranting about foreigners to Sweden here, but trust me when I say that I do NOT think that every foreigner who visit Berget arrogantly break the law.'

To all of you who made sure to respect allemansrätten and other relevant laws concerning littering and behaviour in the woodlands, you have my respect and know that it is not you that im refering to in this post. You know who you are.

And to all of you who visist Berget games but feel a little unsure of how to act or aren't all too familiar with Swedish law: I'd advise you to do your homework a little, BUT I can understand that it might be difficult to know what is okay and what isn't. But if your intentions are pure then you needn't feel targeted by my post either, but I assume you can agree with my sentiments that someone with authority over the players attending should be present not only to kick repeat offenders out of the game, but also to help all of you who don't feel too sure of how to act and what laws apply, am I right?

This year we had regular visits from BE Crew to our camp to investigate that everything was ok. We had an issue with the Naturalreservat, which was right next to our base area and there were some questions about where the area started and what we could do at that area. BE Crew instructed us on problem spots and they were corrected as soon as it was possible. One tent was inside the reservation area, and guys were reluctant to move it, after 2 days of camping in it (the place the tent was, was a clear campsite inside the reservation area after all, so it was a bit strange to move, I admit). This was however solved.

Finland has the same law (allemansrätten) so it is not basically hard for Finns to live by it, we are used to it. This year however, the reservation area was a bit confusing and caused some trouble.

Still I trust and hope we left our base-area relatively clean. We had enough trashbags and only a few campfires, so apart from the regular signs of 250 people making their camp in a forest, I don't think there was much less left. I had the time to inspect 4 of the 7 platoon campsites and I thought they were pretty damn ok.

Littering

+1 on the littering, cutting down trees and trashing the place. Should not be done.

This year I cleaned up after other players a little bit: I picked up trash from tactical points (and sometimes from the forest paths!) to my magazine dump-pouch and emptied it to a proper trashcan once I got nearby one.

BE should write a little more about the local law in the rules - also implying that if there are clear violations you can get kicked + banned from the game. And in extreme instances even reported to the police.

Personally one of the things that I find extremely annoying: removal of moss from the ground. Some total idiots do this when building defenses. They first erect a bit of cover with some branches or the like and then proceed to remove big patches of moss from the ground to cover it up. When you remove moss there's a good chance it dies permanently and cannot continue to live even if you reposition the moss back to its place of growth. Moss takes forever to grow back - decades. It is also totally fucking stupid to use it as camo; because it doesn't even provide you with cover and only amplifies your visual appearance to the enemy; your camouflage-uniform stands out like hell when you put it behind a near-white moss. It only makes the contrast more apparent. I never saw anybody actively removing moss and carrying it around, but I did see many defenses built precisely in this manner. For example there was one near Angel Peak tactical point towards Janco on the path. (Idiots also built these in B9). Totally moronic in so many ways. I suggest that if you ever see a player building this kind of "moss-cover position" you go and stop that dude immediately and explain a little about this.

Also if you see trash around: pick it up. Your magazine dump pouch can carry a lot. Whine about trashing to people. Explain that the local law will allow you to pass by the lands, but not litter them with garbage.

I see what I have missed by not coming this year,

About the game.
I will not criticize the game itself and BC. Just because it was done already before, and I guess BC will have to learn you lessons.

May be just couple words…well…)) listen)…give us more chances to meet the opponents and fight with them :-)) Sometimes it seems to me that there was no NAF/Zanzian gays at the field… Please give us a liitle bit more dinamic, more War!

But anyway: BC - thank you for that event, I like it!
I will try come back next year!
