TOWING RULE

Post by vinni » 08 Mar 2016, 10:43

There has been some debate concerning the towing rule.

We've already started talking with a few experienced mech guys for their input, and we've also contacted NAF HQ to ask them to do the same. All thogether, we can combine our inputs and send that to BE.

This thread exists to add extra opinions to that framework. You may be an experienced mech guy (or girl, UPIR is an equal opportunities employer) but just don't happen to be on the close contact list of our HQ personnel, or you may be of any other specialisation within our forces with a valid input, anything's possible.

If you've got something useful to say about the towing rule, jot it down in here.

NOTE: When commenting, please consider this rule as here to stay. Comments saying that the rule should be cancelled alltogether aren't helping improving it. As I said in the respective thread, this is innovation, let's help it.

I noticed your comment in the public section Vinni, and therefor i would just like to make one Point.

The Towing part is for you guys to be able to "clear the road", for mechs to make the decision if they want to risk Another vechicle to tow away a roadblock - not to be able to completely rescue destroyed vehicles.
And for that purpose, on Berget roads, 200m is quite a far distance :)

I understand that but, and I think many would agree, being able to 'rescue' a vehicle would make more sense (if you're already towing it, why not make it combat ready sooner and give it an advantage over vehicles that weren't towed?) and it would improve gameplay (rescues are always epic).
It might need further detail on when a shot-out vehicle can no longer be repaired, but such ideas is where this thread is for.

Besides, the rules do not state that burned out vehicles block the road, they should move aside instead. The towing rule doesn't specify the opposite of this.

All in all, we're looking for input on the rule. Once ready, BE is free to do with it as they please.

(in order to prevent a shitstorm, this thread is officers-only)

I can see your Point, but lets say lead vehicle drives over an Outlaw IED (*whistles innocently*) and starts taking fire. You cannot repair it without risking the engineer, but with towing, you can tow it to a secure location, and repair it from there.

Anyhow, discussion is Always good, keep it up :)
