UPIR Mech - Only class 5 vehicles?

Unit requirements: Only ?Heavy armoured vehicles/tanks qualifying for armor level Class 5 (5 hitpoints) is allowed in this unit. To be able to book a ticket to this unit you will need to bring your own vehicle or have a seat in your friend’s vehicle.
Is this really correct, or a typo? To get Class 5 a vehicle needs 6 or more wheels, or tracks. I've only seen a handful of vehicles like that at Berget, so I don't think Iron Skulls (Upir Mech) will have many vehicles if this is true, and NAF Mech will end up being very crowded if it's the only viable team for anyone with a vehicle of class 1 or 3.

I agree with the post above. Last year me and my teammates played as mechanized UPIR since we use flecktarn. We thought of doing the same this year but if this with the class 5 vehicles persists I do not see us purchasing any tickets for this years game. Last year I saw perhaps 1-2 class 5 vehicles, so I wonder what the concept is behind this rule?

The game setup this year is a new thinking where one team (NAF) intentionally will have a bigger Mechanized unit to fit the scenario. We are not looking to balance MECH units 50 / 50 like previous years.

Like you describe, there is a restriction on the UPIR iron skulls due to this unit is a HEAVY mechanized unit. We will however re-consider mechanized teams (With class 3) that have Class 5 vehicles among them, so their team can play together.

We will really encourage Mech players to re-consider getting uniforms to fit into NAF mechanized side, if the uniform is the biggest issue there might be uniforms available to borrow/rent from Berget-events.

Class 5 is ... a bit much.

I think I've only seen 1 or 2 vehicles fitting that description over past events.
/edit: player-brought vehicles, that is

But hey, this is the game area where a 95% dismounted force put foot to ass, so it might work even with an uneven distribution of mechanised forces.

As someone who plays on blue, I have a hard time seeing how this will work. Sounds sort of cool on paper, but having such a big amount of mech on one side just means the other side gets more inf. Like Vinni said, this area is much better for infantry fighting thus meaning all those fancy cars of ours will be next to useless with all them AT4s going pewpew.

Whats wrong with just a conventional fight? So many special units on red, and blues have some rediculous field hospital trying to yet again find a mysterious virus.

I see it damn interesting to see a balance attempt to be made with thees BAWS mounted heavy vehicles vs. a show of numbers in light vehicles.
Also I hope that this encourages people to actually how up with some cool armory. Hey, I'll be damn disappointed if there isn't one proper tank in-game!
Last on was seen on, what? B8? :cooltank:

All in all, I think this might work :)

Balance is as last year, one of our main objectives and focus points. We will balance the game so there is an equal amount of players on each side (regardless of amount of vehicles) but also several other factors based on experience from previous years.

Berget 15, will be a different setup than usual. But we believe that the upsides regarding action, interesting missions, objectives we can create will benefit the gameplay and general action/mission level.

Nope, WE had our Tank ingame at Berget 13 - but due to track issues that still need to be fixed, we will not bring it to Berget 15 :(

I'm with L4gi on this one. I can only see this backfiring on Berget. Reds with vehicles doesn't want to come unless they can choose what side to play with. And that is how it should be. BE, no, bad goddam idea.

Indeed, a more conventional approach would guarantee that people get to play on the side they want, AND it would be more balanced.

Judging from my experience I would say it is more about distribution of AT4's than numbers, as 40mms don't do a thing. But yes, heavies would have to pull off a miracle to keep it even during the whole game.

I understand that you want to have a big mech unit on NAF but there should be a a small mech on the UPIR side as well otherwise UPIR will fight without an QRF and cavalry to support the heavies/ tanks.

It´s your game and your story:)

Now i´m no general but an army needs a cavalry. An army needs someone who can give you support when you need it and to transport units. An army needs someone who can give you a quick and effective attack when you need it.

I suggest that you let a small mech support the heavies or let class 1-2 mech units support the infantry.
