A little question about safety distances

Hi.
Wondering about safety distances here.
If i use a support weapon that chrones to about 120m/s, should i obey to the 100-140m/s (support weapons, auto only) 15m safety distance. Or can i obey to the 110-130 (semi and full auto) 10m safety distance?
On a side note: To me it seems a bit strange that a support weapon that chrones about 100 m/s have 15m safety distance compared to all other weapons that have 1m at same velocity, but i guess that there is some kind of reason for this ruling.
Anyways, curius to know the answers for these question =)
