This could get really expensive if the rental company (or private owner) will spot the BB marks, dents (or glass damage) on the car, etc. :) I'm not sure if the locals will rent you their old pickups, 4x4s...

My (kinda obvious) advice is to build your own ingame vehicle and drive it to Berget with your buddies. We did it this year with a 16 yr old toyota, and it was fun. The ferry from Poland was the most expensive (like 600 eur in total) and most time consuming part of the trip (2x19 hrs), the fuel costs, highway fees, distrubuted between 4 ppl was nothing.

Definately 4x4 with cargo capacity for transporting troops.

There was no need for 4x4 at B7 because it was hot and dry. However, B8 was a different story. Only 4x4 made it up the back road into the civilian camp.

And the capability to transport a fire team is way better than trying to figure out how to mount an MG. 4-6 guys in the back of a pick-up is alot more firepower than 1 MG.

And I agree with Trasher about renting. Stay away from it because anything somewhat new will show the abuse. My Toyota at B8 was a 1991 model that I bought for 2K. Then put another 2.5K into it just to lift the suspension, put new tires, and overhaul the engine. It looked like a POS, but it drove like a champ. Put money in the trainy first, then over-budget money for the drive to Sweden, then what you got left... use it for taco money. You can always trick it out next year.

Finally, I suggest something practical. Don't try to Mil-sim up a vehicle so it looks good. Especially when it bogs down in the first mud hole you drive into. Then it's only a sweet picture of 6 dudes trying to push a cool looking rig out of the mud.

Toyota pickups FTW!

My Hilux served very well at B8 with 9 guys onboard, sometimes up to 14. As Robman said, transporting and quick mounting-dismounting capability is far more important than a badass looking MG (aka BB magnet) or two.... I'd gladly use it again in 2011, but after B6-B7 I think the Harnösand gamesite is not that vehicle friendly.

As for bogging down, I've diff lockers and a 9500lb winch! :D

Dude! No need to say your girl's weight on the forum

Just Kidding Trasher.

But Trasher is right, the area is not as vehicle friendly as B8. Sometimes you have to drive out of the game area to reach some places and guys can't be all gunned up rolling through town. And the roads typically go one direction (no loops or turn offs), which limit your escape and evasion if you get run up on.
