I played in these socks 30 hours nonstop, including these jumps from the boat - no strains, no blisters, no problems at all, feet were just slightly sweat (sorry for these details). Temperature +15C at the day, +5 at night. Boots - Danner Desert GTX (they started leaking, for this reason I had to buy these socks). I don't know how will it be in warm/hot weather, but in moderate weather it's OK.

Ouch! What a swamp! For B9 I am thinking of taking a piece of tarp or thick plastic to make a dry floor for the Berget's tent. Plus will certainly dig a small ditch around the tent to collect water outside and not under my sleeping bag.

A tip - make absolutely sure that the edges of the tarp are above the edge of the tent fabric.

The soil at 1st Inf camp was really compacted so if you gave even a slight chance for the stream to cross over to the top of the tarp, it happily took the path of least resistance ;D In fact a superior solution was to gather pine branches to provide a thick isolating layer on top of the mud, but it was quite hard to find enough (dead) branches.

I wouldn't recommend that at all.
This time Berget is probably not going to be so cold and rainy, so using some sleeping bag cover or a very low temperature sleeping bag will be a bad idea.

I went for a -5 deg. sleeping bag and it was ok in B8. If it's a little warm - take your shirt off or open up the sleeping bag, and if it's a little too cold, don't worry, your body temp. increases while you sleep

ive always used a -5 celsius sleeping bag during summers in sweden and i only sleep in my shorts/underwear in them. Been working fine for me during scout jamborees, outdoorsman courses and Berget/milsim/airsoft games for alot of years during swedish summer.

When your team or some one in your team become wet and cold they will slow you down. Be prepard with candy and some thing hot to drink and you will be abel to get them back on the trail, just to boost moral.

What about this one? http://www.healthyhikergear.com/product ... -Bag-Olive Slightly more expensive but gives some space above your head. Will also be useful for traveling light (without a tent).

After 2 bergets` and numerous all-weather tryouts for my sleeping bag - i do recommend the RECON 4 (-10c) sleeping bag.

I used it both for B7 when it was hot and B8 when it was quite cold at night and it did the job great. At b7 i slept in my undies and t-shirt and in B8 i had to put socks and a warm piece of clothing over my feet because they got cold. but it performed nicely and it's also extremely compact.
