Although not a Berget Expert, I have experienced varied conditions in ROTC so here are my some of mine

One if cold, dress/ bring layers because if you sweat that can lead to frostbite even under warm clothes, also you don't want to overheat.

Boot, I recomed something with GORE-TEX because it's waterproof but brethable so it wisks moisture away and can keep your feet cool when needed, also I noted with out the stuff if the boots get wet it can lead to detereation.

Also make sure your boots fit very comfortably, if you need a special size or Wide get it, settle for nothing less or you wiil be in pain from blisters if they're loose and just pain if they're too tight.

Also Break your boots in. I need a size 15 so I had to special order mine and they ended up arriving the day before one of our FTX's and we had to do a long Ruck march so I got Blisters.

Make sure you get a sleeping bag that fits TRY IT ON! I had one that ROTC issued and i found out to late it didn't fit so I froze on our second FTX.

Good Luck everyone!

Hello,
I've read about preventing cold or hot weather, and that we should prevent sweating.
The point is that I have "sweating issues" (don't know if the sentence is correct), I sweat really easily on my chest and my back and I presume this may be a big problem.
Are these "Cool-Max"-like shirts and pants sufficient, or should I look for something else?
I know it depends from the person but maybe some of You sweat very much too, how did You manage to "survive" the previous Berget events?
Thank You ;)

I live 350km north of Härnösand, and that week it has seldom been less than 10-15 degreades at night. I think the risk is bigger that you ruin your sleep, having TO HOT in your sleepingbag. Bring something to combine it with instead, just in case...

Biggest problems on Berget is dehydration, so perspiration eaven in night is not what i would prefer!!

And I was at the gaming site with a thermometer.... I'm talking about B6, not B7.

Bear in mind, when preparing clothing, the different situations you encounter.

We had lots of different temperatures in B7:
* in base during day - friggin hot inside the tents and in direct sun, in shade the condition was better.

* at night - in the thick of the woods - it was hot because of high humidity and still air (wind blocked by trees).

*at night - during walks in open areas, roads, paths etc or just standing still - it got cooler, and where wind had path to flow - it was quite cold.

I had a parka jacket which was rolled small and slung unto my vest which i easily took out and wore when cold.

Personally i use a 10degreads sleepingbag and a worm parkas. My parka is a winterkind, and suitable to cover my sleepingbag.

During Berget 5, we had +3 and rain one night. So keep in mind that the temprature can be very low during nights if the weather gets bad.

Better to have a good sleepingbag and sleep without it (if to hot), rather then freeze your ass off in a to light sleepingbag.
