Packing List

Post by Talisman » 09 Feb 2009, 02:43

I thought I could bring this up since everyday we are getting closer to 4 days of madness.
As you all know, new Berget players often pack to much or to less.
This happens in almost every new event you are attending to.
As this is my first time attending to a Berget game myself, I would like to ask the veterans what it takes to keep me going for 4 days?

Better to start with this now, than to late. It gives me and other new player time to buy the missing gear :)

I guess some thing we have to buy in Sweden.
Like BBs and gas. And other high pressure or liquid products. (This is if you come by air)

For the first, you aint allowed to have high pressure products with you. As for liquid and BBs, customs dont like eighter of them.

Eaven though its hot during the day, at some Berget-games the tempratures can drop down to 5 degrees during night with heavy rain and high humidity.

I would recommend bringing a good sleepingbag with comforttemrature down to - 5 or 0 degrees.

Also bring earplugs so you can sleep without beeing disturbed by others awake.

And last, you shoes are most important. They need to be worn in and comfortable. Don't buy a new pair right before Berget. Use your old and change socks twice a day.

Good luck!

Lot of socks, personal hygiene stuff, medicines (painkillers etc), extra clothes in case you fall into a swamp pit like I did... :? Good cooking equipments are always a bonus, lighters and really - you can't have too much food and ammo.

awake ... no people awake always keep in mind people sleeping, especailly in berget when all people know how resting is important ...

sleeping people could make more noise than the awake ... snoring is a problem, last year we organize a snoring battle between our tent and the next tent just after returning from a little scratch to the NATO bases ....

Here´s my old checklist:

1. What you MUST have. Without this, no game.. (Field set)
Eye protection
Boots
Appropriate BDU:s, and carry equipment.
Arsenal: Primary, spare, secondary, batts, mags, and ammo for the above.
(Don´t forget to charge batts..)
Water bottle, camelback or a backpack to carry water in.
"Death rag" (bright orange)

2. Other necessities for a good stay:
High grade sleepingbag (graded to 0c degrees or lower).
Sleeping pad (mostly your sleeping in a tent on the ground).
A change of clothing (including spare socks packed in plastic bags).
Knee pads (hopefully included in your "field set" already).
Compass
Mobile phone
Radio (viable FM comradio).
Your own field meals (energy bars, mre:s and such).
Your own camping cook-set with eating apparrel.
Some nicer quick meals such as maybe canned food or other ready meals.
Weather proof fire starting equipment.
Warm extra underwear such as long johns etc.

3. Recommended extra gear
Mosquito repellant
Tic removal kit. (Not so necessary in north sweden).
Camo face paint.
First aid kit.
Lip moisturizing stick.
Towel, soap..
Toilet paper
Notebook and pencils/pens.

4. Unnecessary extra gear.
Swim trunks
Wet tissues
Snacks
Instant coffee
Pain relievers
Spare parts for arsenal with "bits and pieces most likely to break".

P.S. Im a nerd for hauling crapp around so.. Not all the stuff i bring is on this list.. Ask KJSAW.. :-)

Knots is the opposite. The knots are like small mosquitos, and will make small marks, but since they "hunt" in packs you get more bites.

But since Berget is held in Mid-swe you should not worry to much about knots, since they tend to keep to the southern coastline. Mosquitos is still going to be a problem so be prepared.
The repellent spray or rollon smells and tastes like shit if you get it in the mouth, but it works. If your flying to Berget, buy it in Sweden.

This is very inportant.
Tics can be a pain in the ass and they can make some serious damage if they stay on to long, so check your self every night.

Tics can make for example half of your face paralyzed, and you can get some nasty infections.
