Snakes, as most reptiles are shy animals. When 2000 people enter the woods and starts screaming most of them will leave. As this year, saw none and never heard of anyone seen any. Apart from the crew that got bitten.

And keep in mind that vipers are protected animals. You may not harm them in any way.

there is only one kind of venomous snake in sweden, the others are not.
But the on kind that is is mostly not deadly, but you would want to go to the hospital for some treatment after bite.

my father got bit one summer and discovered it a week after and then he went to the hospital and got some treatment. it just looked like a big red blob.

If they bite me, I'll bite back...doesn't the bible teach us to do so? :P

No seriously...the snakes only bite if you really, really anger them by touching them or step into their nests. normally they run away, faster than you could realize that they were even there.

Adults grow to a length of 60 to 90 centimetres (24 to 35 in)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vipera_berus
There's only one type of venomous snake in Sweden: the European adder (huggorm), which has a distinct zig-zag pattern on its back. The snake is not very common, but lives all over Sweden except for the mountains in the north and farmlands in the south. Although its bite hardly ever is life-threatening (except to small children and allergic people), one should be careful in the summertime especially when walking in the forests or on open fields. If you are bitten by a snake, seek medical assistance. All reptiles in Sweden, including adders, are protected by law and must not be harmed.

If anything, it ticks you need to worry about.

No, there are no spiders that are threat to humans. Ticks are the ones that you should be worried about. They can cause pretty nasty long term effects.
