I WANT TO BE ON THE FRONT ALL THE TIME !

A lot of players seem not to understand or don´t want to understand that this is not possible. For tactical and strategic reasons some units will be engaged in certain missions and movements with or without fighting. Others will be ful in battle. When and who this will be depends on requirement. Will you all please understand that commanders and their staff will have their hands ful to shift troops around and secure their bases at the same time, one can not foresee how situations develope. This has nothing to do with simply going out and shooting the hell out of anything that moves, it has nothing to do with the game. Naturally commanders will and have to try to give all members of his unit the opportunety to get a fair share of the fighting but that is not all he has to take care of.
If you can not understand that and prefers to play "Last man standing" you are in the wrong place in Berget.

Okay, you paid your membership fee and you had a lot of expenses getting to Sweden but that does not mean the game only has to satisfy your wants.

I have to say I support the above statement fully. Players have to understand that events are not scripted. We do not decide what the enemy does, and positions that are important for us, might not be on the enemy list of priorites right then. This does not mean we can leave it open for the enemy. So this leads to a unit doing a important job, but without fighting. The job has to be done, it is just bad luck that it was your unit that got that one. And things like that happen to ALL units at berget. And yes, I know, it feels like it is ALLWAYS happeing to your unit, but the action in the game is pretty much evenly spread out. So if you stay the course, fight with your unit, you will by the end of the game get your fair share of action.
Also important to remember that running off on your own, can spoil the game for others. So dont put your fun above that of others.
Also important for ALL commanders be it bn, company or squad. Let your men know what is going on. Pass information along, a player who know why he is doing something is a motivated player. Do not sit on intel that can help players understand the development of the game. And if you need 2 min or 5 min with our men to bring them up to speed, tell you chain of command and they will give you the time.
We are all at berget to have fun. So lets ALL help each other to achive this.

Also, the style of play that berget has now set up. If you are in a milsim unit, expect that unit to do things in a milsim way, and that the commanders there expect you to behave as a milsim player. I will be posting a commanders intent in the private forums for Pol when it opens. And in that I will make it clear for the men of 3rd pol what is expected of them. If when you read that, you fint out that the 3rd might not be your unit, I will make sure that you are transferd to one of the other pol units, so you will have a fun game, and I will have a fun game.

See it like this.

If you go out hunting on your own, and don't care about orders. You and everyone else might miss out on the big epic battle that the commander has in store, simply because there aren't any troops at base.

I take pride in executing any order given to me and making the best out of it. I hope everyone else feel the same way.

I totally agree with Ober-lix (you see I'm not always against you ;) )

I just will add something

during guard time, impose rest time (for your benefit), take the time to meet the other players, it's a chance to have player from all around the globes, try to know them, try to learn how they see airsoft etc :) if you are not the your team or your friends take time to now the other member of your squad etc

and it's useful to rest, heal the little wound (feet, arms, hand, ect) wash up yourself, change sock etc :)

it's useful when the battle come to know you can count on the others to do the job ;)

Good post Ober-Lix,

Hope everyone understands and does like you write! The topic has been read 311 times at this moment... so at least 1/4 of all people could know that Berget is not THEIR party... it's a party for ALL contenders and for all to enjoy and have fun!

My squad was often in guard of homebase and I tell ya it was HILARIOUS! We participated in few awesome situations even though we weren't in every single more or less epic battle. So as a vet. with experience of not being "ON THE FRONT ALL THE TIME !" believe me, every minute in this game will be fun in a way or in another. ^^ Airsoft is not all about having the chance to shoot enemies, isn't at least to me.

Hi,
just wondering what other tasks do you do when not on the 'frontline'

Mainly you are on guard duty and most important thing is also to use that time to rest, take care of your feet, eat etc. That way you are ready and good to go back to the frontline when ordered to.

Let me sum them up really briefly:
- intel on point or area, marking of grid, scouting for good overview points
- long-range-recce-patrol
- base-defense (active base defense can be exhausting like hell), sitting under a bush, munching a MRE and talking to a buddy is fun but little of base-defense
- interaction with HVI (high-value-individuals) = escort, kidnapping, rescue
- recovery of important objects
- show-of-force patrols
- waiting in reserve (extremely important and again - shouldn't be equal to r&r)
- and so on

There are MANY missions in a decent milsim scenario that can result in success without even firing your weapon once.
