What to do during a Tank-attack.

Post by Spof » 08 Apr 2010, 11:54

If your possitions gets under attack by a airsoft-tank, there are mainly two things to worry about. The tank have one coaxial airsoft machinegun in the turret (some tanks can have one second in the front) and the main gun that shoots FX pyro.

The main gun works as Artillery and if you are in a sandbag-buker infront of the tank and it fires its main gun at your possition you can count on being dead and should raise your wounded flag. However this should be done by a Game-master and it will be up to yourself to decide if there is none pressent.

The tanks used at Berget can have small holes or glitches in the turrent or under the tracks. Remember that you can never shoot any personal inside the tank even if its possible. The tank personal can only get shot if they are outside the tank or in the turrent hatch.

If there are objects blocking the way for the tank, the tank will send out one crew in a orange vest to remove the objects (simulation that the tank have driven over it) DO NOT! shot at this person, he is offgame.

Players can not climb ontop the tank. The tank can only be killed by mines, C4 or the anti-tankguns (BAVS-system).

Mines will only block the tank from moving forward, but if the crew drives ower the mines the tank will be damaged (up to crew to decide).

If a tank is an obejct of a misson and yours is to destroy it, you can place a c4 charge besides it to blow it up. This is only to be used by tanks standing still as objects. So it will work the same way as you destroy a radio-mast.

Explosives / Sticky bombs
Explosives may be used to destroy objects like buildings, radio masts and doors. Only engineers may use explosives. Use of explosives requires a 10 meter safety perimeter, and enforcing this is the engineer's responsibility. Explosives may only be used against objects, and they may not be thrown. They must be placed carefully. Rigging the charge must take at least two minutes. The charge we use is completely legal and detonates like a small firework.

NOTE!
Players may not construct their own explosives; all relevant players (engineers) will be briefed and issued explosives on the day.

Thanks.

I just wanted to point out, that if the tank is moving, that may be dangerous for Engineers to apply during 2 minutes C4 on the tanks sides.

If for example a tank tries to attack my home base, and I'm a engineer.
I can sneak to a side of the tank, and walk/run @ the same speed the tank is moving while applying C4 on the side, which may be a bit dangerous if the tank is in movement...

Or will BE crew consider a "moving" object a different way as a static object, such as an antenna or a house ?

Ha Ha !

If someone manage to sneak behind the tank and place C4, then
the tank commander has failed utterly.

A tank should always be surrounded by infantry for protection.
Both closely (to make sure no pesky enemy engineer can approach
the tank) and in a wide circle to protect from enemy troops equipped
with AT weapons.

It's better to sacrifice infantry then loosing a tank. If the enemy
has well protected stationary AT guns, use artillery barrages to
killed them off. Never leave the tank alone, and don't rush it
into enemy base like a bull.

The answer will be found in 'rules' section.
You MAY NOT aproach moving vehicle (not close) or stand it's way, you could be roadkilled IRL (not neccessary to wear orange rag anymore! ;) ).

Absolutely prohibited: Going behind vehicle, think yourself driving a tank, and decide going backwards suddenly, there is a huge possibility that driver/crew cannot see you -> Roadkill!

I did experience this in B8, some dumb f****s did try to stop our APC standing on the road and then running around the vehicle so we could not move without getting some 'roadkills'. I guess they tough that was a good idea in that time.
...AND PROHIBITED BY RULES! (same thing in real life, in collision by man and a car, the other one will take a win every time)

True true.

You can maybe call that suicide bombers(?) who are not sure if they wants to do it or not? ;)

Frome the rules:
No players are allowed to at any time be on top of or climb the tank. Caution should be taken around the tank in general since the drivers have very poor visibility and might not see people around the tank.

Hello.

Is it allowed to fire at a moving tank? (To distract it? Or for whatever reason you would like to attract its attention )
And do the guys inside the tank wear safety goggles?

Everyone inside the game area are supposed to wear goggles. It'd be foolish not to do so even inside a tank, especially since the tanks have holes and glitches as Spof mentioned. I suppose you could fire at it if you want to, but it only gives away your position and makes you a low-priority target for the tank to engage when the more urgent threats have been dealt with.

You could, I can imagine that if an entire platoon opens up on a tank, the crew inside will find the racketing somewhat annoying. :p

Thank you :) "Tank Trolling" can't possibly end well for those outside the tank, but it sound funs though. Kinda like "knock and run" :D
