Sleeping in the outdoors

Dear veterans,

At 2012 me and 12 of my team-mates will attend our first Berget event.

I wanted to know if sleeping in the outdoors is allowed?

I have read all the rules and they say that players need to sleep in the tent assigned to them by BE.

Suppose we intend to launch a sneak attack at 09:01 on some intrest point, can we arrive few kliks away from the point the night before, sleep in the outdoors and starts the attack at the first second of ingame time?

As you can see, we are looking for some heavy action, so we booked tickets to the POL 3rd... :D

This information is very important to us because it heavily affects the supplies we need to bring with us.

Thanks to all responding veterans.

Generally speaking, yes you are ! Since only the bases are in a off game status from 0300 till 0900 h, fighting or movements can continue anywhere else in the game area.
Special care should be taken for safety in twilight, since it never gets really dark in Sweden at that time a year, propper recognition and identification in this kind of light is impared.

Thank for the quick answer!

Is it mandatory to use tents or using a suitable sleeping bag is enough?

As long as you're using smething color-appropriate, you should be fine if you want a tent.
If you don't want a tent, you're propably allowed to - if your comfortable sleeping without a tent, that is. Rememver, this is Sweden, and summer ain't warm;)

i'd suggest a bivvybag as well, might come in handy :P

but, to adress the given situation more directly, if you're launching an assault at 0901, you'll probably won't have the opportunity to sleep right outside the enemy base 'cause a) so you're ready and fully awake to start the attack and b) 'cause after 0800 it's just too warm to stay in a sleeping bag

a more likely scenario would be that you would just do a powernap in full kit with your mates o the lookout instead of a a full, in-country sleep :P

there is only one main reason to use a tent at berget................to get away from the worst mosquitos in the world (and i've been to vietnam, Thailand and africa!!!!!!)
:x :x  :?

What you are planning is nothing new. You will encounter two of the biggest
problems at berget. First of all there might be no surprise attack because of base patrols, remember outside bases things carry on in on game status.
Second, as mentioned before, those mosquito bastards who seem to be imune against most insect repellant, in fact they absolutely love the stuff.
I have the feeling they waiting all year and looking foreward for us foreign players to arrive to have a feeding orgy. And finally, it can rain haviely and if it does, like on B8, you up the river without a paddel.

Not to mention that attacks like that might not even be part of your commanders plan. Remember that berget is a game where you follow the chain of command, and for units like 3rd mountaineers, you are also in a Milsim unit doing missions that might not allow such activity.

Unless you take 2-3 BAVs to take out some vehicles while in the base, a 13 man strong surprise attack on a x00 strong enemy base isn't gonna do anything. If it's sunny you can't sleep past 0800-0830, like vinni said, so expect most of the base to be up already.

If the vehicles are standing in the base and you want to BAV them, its a no no before 0:900 h.

Attacking a base before 0900 is a no go, we already covered that.

But to answere the question, yes you can sleep outside the tent as long as you stay within the rules of "allemansretten" that govern all use of nature in sweeden.
