The Enola Gaye smoke grenade are pyrotechnic and therefore not allowed at Berget.

These are definitely pyrotechnic grenades, and there is a movie in YouTube about these somke grenades with warning "these grenades get quiet hot so never activate them near or on something that could catch fire"

Isnt there something called "cold burn" smoke grenades on the market? Or is it the same sh*t with a different name?

'cold-burn' smokes are still pyrotechnics.

That´s weird because the finnish importer of enola gaye smoke came to our game a month ago and introduced these products to us with following facts:
The smoke grenades do not need any fire nether to they release any fire exept the tiny sparkle that comes when you pull from the pin/string.

They have even tested throwing an enola gaye grenade in a dry haystack and it didn´t catch any fire, didn´t even get black. They even demostrated by throwing a grenade in a dry bush on a sunny day (+18C) and the smoke spreded nicely but the bush itself didin´t catch any fire.

The whole point acording to the importer was that theese are the first smoke grenades that it safe to use in airsoft, even on a hot summer day. The only way for something to catch fire from these is if you purposely try to burn something(if the haystack didn´t even catch fire).

Then there are these other abilities like safe to breath, decomposing... but the point with this topic seems to be the fire hazzard so no more about that.

So I say Berget crew PLEASE give a second thought about these! :)

We have tested these grenades less than a month ago and they did not meet our requirements.

Unless there is severe impovements when it comes to these kinds of grenades there will be no changes to our rules. All of you must understand if we burn down our gamesite or any gamesite there will be no more berget. Who would want to lend us their land?

Best regards

On B5 we had an accident with a blind thrown burning smoke granade
so i didn`t like these kind of grenades ...

Smoke is a great thing ingame ..maybe some gamemaster with fire extinguisher as backup will use them .. i hope ;)

A tiny sparkle could ignite the whole forest .

I would really like to see smoke ingame, but the risk is too high!!!

Unless they build a grenade that smokes at less than... let's say 200°C (or at least well below _any_ ignition temperature)...

DON'T USE THEM!!!

I want to come back for many many years to come ;););););););)

It is important to remember that the chaos factor always kicks in in the most unfitting moments. The grenades never set something on fire when the company tested them. But YOU have the 1 in 1.000.000 example that was manufactured with a mistake. You throw it and fifteen minutes later the whole gameare is on fire.... :?

And like even Sir Terry Pratchett (*1948, English novelist) wrote in one of his books:

one-in-a-million-chances come true 9 out of 10 times...

:? :?    :D :D :o :o

"A tiny sparkle could ignite the whole forest ."

Ok that tiny sparkle comes when you pull the string, the grenade does not have a timer so my point was you hold it in your hand when you pull the string and at that specific moment make sure it isn´t in contact with anything that burns easily and after that you can throw it in a haystack I talked about, and the purpose thing was that you press it against something easily inflamable and pull the string.

But I have to give you that in a big game area and high adrenaline rush there is allways a danger to set something on fire on accident. The idea of grenades would of course be to use in open spaces to give vision cover but I guess you can´t control it that it is used for only this purpose.

To bad

You see...you can't f*ck with statistics :P

In general, I like the idea of creating your own smoke-cover, but at a big game like Berget there are to many factors that can turn something so small like a smoke grenade into something dangerous. In such matters you cant rely on common sense, because this can go downhill when adrenalin kicks in...Same thing with the safety distances. Everybody wants to obey them, but in some high pressure moments they can be forgotten.
