Disagreed. Reindeer is quite tasty prepared correctly. But lets not go there, everybody: bring your own food and don't shoot reindeers with your heavy glass bb's. They wont budge.

Quite honest: Dried reindeer meat is a classic and highly recommended for airsofters. You get some salt - thus utilize water better - and it's very light in your beltkit or rucksack and provides vital proteins. You can buy it at Swedish and Norwegian shops and petrol stations. Yummie ;-)

Personally I'll bring both dried reindeer meat and heatermeals at B7.
Even dried fish becomes a delicacy after you've stormed some enemy positions after a lengthy patrol. :-)

please bring some for me as well, really. It is hard to get over here in the "Land of pork and beef" and I like it.

Have fun,

Food

Post by yasirotta » 05 Feb 2009, 05:34

Heh...
Before all this goes out of hand, please remind one thing...
There is 2 kind of food in berget events. First is big meat, and other one is just for taking hunger away. Always remember water, that is key for everything. So, if your meat is deer, bear, elk or whatever... There is always cannet tuna or pineapple taking most hunger away. Most best thing about pineapple is that you get also liquid and sugar to balance your body.

And remember, if you use sports drinks like "Hart Sport" or else... Drink those when you are getting sleep(or resting). If you use those under pressure, they wont work like they should be.

And last, spare your alcohol to beer party. Really, biggest mistake is drink alcohol during movement. That will just make your airsoft-event worse. All what you get, is angry players and headache for own mistakes.

MOST IMPORTANT IS KEEPING FUN !

Something I learned the hard way at B6

At Berget
The sun will set at 22:50
The sun will rise at 02:56

When the sun is down it will still be light enough to walk around without any light. Even moving stealthily in the terrain is not problem. It will not be dark.

Your day/night rythm will most likely be completely messed up by the fact that it is never "night".

You still need to sleep though, even if it means going to bed in broad daylight.

An advice from me:

I understand, that eating MRE's all the time is cool and hardcore MilSim diet, but it is so funny watching you guys so exhausted and sick of those rations after the game, that even McDonald's food seems like food for the gods.

Take a mess kit big enough for a squad, or at least for a half; take rice, noodles, preserved meat, whatever like that to prepare simple, but tasty, nutritive and more healthy food.
Of course it is perfect to have some MRE's in your tactical backpack to eat in the field during the mission, but it's not the best choice for a campsite.

Try the french ration :)

Hot tasty meal, coffee, candies, tea, soup.

It takes more place than more but it seems a real lunch or diner :)

the ration are for one day, breakfast, lunch and diner.

You can find them on ebay ! Be careful on the price and expiration date :) menu are in french and in english :)

prefer bying by pack than by unit (less expensive)

the rumor says that for one 1 french ration you can have 5 us mre in exchange

so :p

Well, if it from French it includes snails or cheese that has gone too old :D

Finnish military rations are also very good compared to MREs. Unfortunately those are really hard to come by and they cost plenty.
