Cheytac M200 sniperrifle

Post by Spof » 26 Aug 2009, 14:05

Does anyone have any experience of the airsoft version of this rifle?

1.) What type of upgrades can be made?

2.) What is the overall durability of the construction, metal quality etc ?

It has the ARES gas system which is not exactly a successful or very consistent one, not to mention upgrade parts...

If you want a decent, gas operated sniper rifle, you should look into externally powered (CO2 or HPA, I'd go for the latter in Sweden) Tanakas with the VSR type hopup conversion.

Spof, i have one. Answers:
1. M200 has enough power on Top gas, mine performed at 620FPS. Spring bolt getting only 295FPS with it's non-standard spring and on-standard plastic piston non-standard as well. I see no possibility to upgrade. Two weeks ago ARES announced CO2 mags for M200 and other their gas products. I hope they will bring consistency and pretty good power.
2. It's rock-solid. Metal quality and finishing pretty fine.

Where can one purchase that gun?
I've been wanting to get one after watching the movie "The Shooter"

but didn't know the name of the rifle :(

But now I do!

Are there any swedish retailers or must one purchase from abroad?

Hi,

its not available in germany .. sorry

but I have the Ares DSR-1 .. same system and neararly the same construction of the Mags.
I have upgraded the hammerspring and put in new valves .. a little bit modificated to get a higher gasflow…

Result : 140 m/s with Madbull 0,40g / its nearly the 199 m/s with 0,20g limit .. (Yellow gas)

Ares has new CO² mags on their hompage .. maybe they have more power ….and better for the Swedish weather ..

I've been checking this gun out as well and one thing that I liked was how it breaks down. It looks like you might be able to carry it in a pack maybe while broken down...is this so? That way it would be easier to carry while you use a smaller weapon until you got into position.

It is possible to break it down so the longest part is 88cm (the barrel):?

so it can be "easy" enough to carry around

I was the guy who had this thing on Berget7, as Kaiser mentioned.
Great rifle, sturdy built, shoots 600andsomething on redgas.
Ares mentioned CO2mags coming, and I'm looking forward to it.

I'm thinking about selling mine for approximately 12.000 NOK.
Dunno how much that is in SEK, but probably 13-14.000.

Bought the black one, and painted it tan, so the wear would show up as black, instead of tan when the rifle had seen some use:)

Expensive, but think of the images you'll get from the photoshoot you'll probably have, and It's all worth it.
Add in the scarefactor when you show up with it for chronographing, and you'll see where you're money went.
