Gun permit for germany

Post by jurgen975 » 28 May 2011, 20:43

Last year my gun was confiscated by the german highway patrol.
Have read something about a permit you can buy just to transport your gun
true germany on this website 2 years ago.
Is it still possible to buy a permit?

Hi Jurgen,

Last year we investigated that option and it was not possible. We spoke to different agencies in Germany, even ober-lix went to his local police officer how was tasked whit gun law. But no one was able to provide us whit a license for transport or contact details to request a permit. Only thing we got back was German gun law explaining what to do whit our guns to make them legal.

Best option is to ship you kit (from Belgium) to berget events.

Cheers

The last information I got is, that you have to go to the "Ordnungsamt/Waffenbehörde" of that town that is responsible for the bordercrossing you travel into Germany and the same procedure for the border crossing you drive back. There you can get a permitt to transit weapons through Germany. But you have to do this in advance

So for this year I think its allmost to late

I know the police officer who is responsible for sporting shooters in north western germany. I asked him how to get a permit. What i found out that this is next to impossible to get it as a private person. You have to be a registered and authorized company or a authorized gunsmith to get such a permit. And it takes almost forever to get all the necessary forms...

I asked the lokal administrative office who gives out that permit. It wouldn't be a probleme to get one as foreigner for transit. With importing weapons you are totally right. The problem is that they are not responsible and can not handout that document. As I wrote there are for each border crossing a seperate administrative office who is responsible for that. as you enter Germany twice on different border crossing you have to do that twice

Yes i understand german but to conclude its all ,a permit is not possible so my options are
1)Break down the gun in parts and risk it to be pullt over in germany
2)Send it to berget,i am not sure there is enough time for that if i have only a simple gun case to transport it in

Two weeks in advance should be safe with a carrier like DHL/UPS.
And you can build your own gun box from OSB-plates, it's real easy.

As for breaking down the gun, it is not really possible because your gearbox is only allowed to produce 1J and should only be capable of doing semi auto. These 2 things are not really a problem but your lower needs to be stamped at all times, assembled or disassembled. (Correct me if I am wrong my German friends)

The joule limit for license free weapons here is 7.5joule, so this would be the smallest problem. As far as i know the stamp has to be on that part which contains the gearbox / shooting mechanism (so mostly the lower ;) )
So you could ship the lower and transport the rest in the car or so...(i know it is not such an elegant solution)

That´s not all, besides the "F" stamp it has to say caliber and BB !
Further more the weapon has to be transported in a lockable containment and carried inside the car.
