I didn´t find the rain to be a problem. But it messed up the road to the village. It´s har to pedal a bicycle in all that mud. :)

With woll and goretex I had little to non issues.

The drying tents were more like steamy saunas however :P
Wasn't able to dry much

Need more, bigger and efficient tents in future wet days.

The rain wasnt that bad, most people took care of themselves!

Although;

The drying tent and Firewood, why was it not delivered quicker or even before the game?
GCT Base didnt get it until late the second day...

Think a good thing was that the rain started before Game-Start. People had a lot of "dead-time" they could use to prepare for more rain. Think it would have been more of a problem, if the first rain had come during game-play. Where players get back to their tents after a day to find everything wet.

The heads-up warning from BE in their news definitely was a good idea.
The rain was not as bad as in previous years (where we usually had just one real rain day - but that one came as a rainstorm), and because of the warning, people really came prepared.
Been here since B08... :)

I came back to GCT base 4 O"cklock in the morning. Even thou I was ready for water from the sky, it was a lot of it on the plants, so the only one dry thing on me was my rifle. But thanks to warninig I keept worm what is most importent. Without that rain the game woud be just as every body have it back home on the weakend playing. From begining I was little upset but after I even liked it.

On a personal level goretex/poncho kept me comfortable. More importantly, prep (tarps and trenches) on Tuesday and Wednesday helped keep the tents as dry as possible.

Unfortunately vehicle traffic turned the middle of the base into a mud pit.

WTF? There was an tent for drying our wet stuff? Where was it?
We tried to dry our stuff in the berget tent for the troops -> no chance.

but we hat good rain gear, so we didn't get so wet during the rainshower.

i want to mention that the berget tents (the green one which provides place for up to 16 people) were awesome. no single raindrop found its way inside. 100% waterproof. well done, berget crew ;-)

I believe that this thread is about the rain. Not your (lack of) personal hygiene. :P

wft?

Well, there were not so much rain so I didn't need any raingear for those times when I was out at the field (and I also had much dry clothes with me at the event) but there is few things of which would require some improvements:

1. Leaking Berget tents. Actually, they didn't let all the water through, but still all my bags (and stuff inside them) got wet since all the seams of the tent were leaking. I'm glad that I packed all my clothes inside plastic bags and all those bags inside a bigger plastic bags so at least most of my spare clothes kept dry.

2. Stoves for the tents. We would appreciate the chance to dry our clothes and gear at some point. We didn't have any stoves so the tent would have been a lousy and wet place to sleep. We decided to build shelters outside. And dug a hole for the campfire.

3. Firewood. We were provided with some little amount of firewood (to the whole civilian camp), yes, but it wasn't enough. And yes we know that it is allowed to pick dead wood from the forest and we did. But how well do you think the wet wood burns?
